Abstract:
The maximum elastic extensibility of rubber falls within the range of 500 to 1000% & its Young' a modulus 10 Kg/sq.cm. That makes rubber about 1000 times more extensible than hard solids. Elasticity and flexibility of rubber are due to its long-chain molecules which are many times longer than the atoms of molecules of hard solids.
