GIS is an integrated assembly of computer hardware, software, geographic data and personnel designed to efficiently acquire, store, manipulate, retrieve, analyze, display and report all forms of geographically referenced information geared towards a particular set of purposes. Geographical information systems (GIS) are becoming an increasingly integral component of resource management activities worldwide. The Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) is strategically located between the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the settled areas of NWFP. In FATA our area of study was Orakzai Agency. According to the population census 1998, population of the agency is 0.453 million. Main and major description of the assignment was establishment of Geographical Information System (GIS) for all the female educational institutions scattered all over the Orakzai Agency. The authors have designed State of the Art GIS that is robust and efficient that will help in proper utilization of resources. Identify resources for upgradation, Clustering Resources for different planning purposes, selection of suitable sites for planning resources. The GIS provides the opportunity for having spatial look of distribution of the institutions and resources required to make the institutions properly & smoothly functional; like teachers, shelter, and seating. The field status can be monitored and achievement of the stated goals evaluated by making spatial queries with reference to different desired criteria. Need based plans may thus be made and implemented to direct resources to the needy places.
