Abstract:

The energetic and dynamics of Si ad-dimers on Si(001) have been investigated by total-energy calculations. Several dimer configurations and thermally activated rotational mode of the dieter on top of the dimer row are theoretically predicated. The frequency of occurrence o1` the different dimes configuration suggests a likely pathway for monomer diffusion.
