Abstract:
Man and Biosphere programme is a research towards developing the basis within the natural and social sciences for the conservation of the resources of the biosphere and improvement of the global relation between the environment and man, (1) Research (2) Training/ Seminar/Workshop (3) Professionalisation of social science were the recommendations. In case of research, empirical and library research be arranged. The themes of the empirical studies were pollution of, urban environment, Slum Cultures, Indus basin its stability and productivity, the environment of the hospitals along with their facilities, level of the noise and performance of staff, migration of people from hilly areas to cities regional cultures in a metro-polis, to raise the child among socio economic, educational, professional and regional cultural groups relating them to human behaviour. While in the Library research there were stock taking exercises on environment and social sciences to find the topics for the future trainings, programmes and researches, History of Architecture and environment. (2) In the training, education, social sciences are essential in environmental education. Master and doctoral desertations, on school level education and awareness on environmnntal themea, in the Seminar/workshop, Regional Seminar on the role of social sciences in agricultural education, seminar on the management of the human settlements, seminar and workshop on system thinking across disciplines. (3) Professionalisation of social science. The-smear commended the setting up of social science committee within its structure. It has also recommended the individual association on social science subjects to have discussion on MAB programme and social science in the next annual meeting.
