UV spectrophotometric determination of submicro quantities of serpentine in Serpajmaline.

Abstract:
The absorbance of serpentine in 5N acetic acid at 307 mµ has been used for the submicro spectrophotometric determination of this substance in Serpajmaline which is predominantly a mixture of serpentine, serpentinine and ajmaline. Serpentinine which also absorbs at 307 mµ is separated from the complex through electrophoresis. The extent of interference due to ajmaline in the UV absorbance measurements of serpentine has been determined. The method is accurate withint1-2%.
