Abstract:
Population of Gilgit agency was surveyed for the evidence of treponematosis infection in the area. The disease is endemic is southern areas of the agency, in the mullahs of Thor Thak, Darel and Muter around the Indus Valley. Forty three active eases were seen Cossideriag a larger number of seropositive bloods, it is presumed that most of the cases are is the latest stage and asymptomatic; bet needing treatment to avoid the development of die figaring tertiary stage of the disease. Epidemiology and clinical features of the disease were studied and a comparison made with other treponematosis occuring in other areas of the world. Control measures have been recommended.
