Abstract:
The existing structure of the organizations of science in Pakistan is discussed. It is suggested that a meaningful and effective science policy should keep in view the total amount of public expenditure available for scientific research and development. The national scientific base should be strengthened for solving national problems and areas of scientific activity should be identified, keeping in view such factors as manpower requirements and capabilities, mass education for creating scientific awareness, coordination among related disciplines and organized communication through scientific publication and the implementation of research findings.
