Abstract:
The oil film measurement techniques described are, electrical resistance method, electrical capacitance method, dielectric break-down method, and X-Ray transmission method. These methods, however, are not of practical application to direct measurement of film on riming gears. All the quantitative methods can only be used in discs and not in gears. Only the semi-quantitative resistance method can be used in gears, knits calibration presents great difficulties.
