Abstract:
Voltammetric study of K1 for electrogeneration of iodine was dcine using gold wire rotating electrode. 2M. HS0h w a s used as the background electrolyte. Reversibility of Vf was esablished by studying various dependences. The oxidation of iodide follows two steps. The value of oxidation potential is found to be +0.30 volts vs. SCE during its first stage of oxidation. In the second step iodine adsorbed is electro-chemically oxidized to iodate in presence of 2M. H, SO, as the medium. This oxidation takes place at +0.90 volts vs. S2CE4 when 0.8x10-5 3M solution of KI was used. The minimum concentration used was 0.5x10-5M solution of K1.
