Abstract:
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is one of the most threatening conditions now a nowadays specifically affecting the colon. Untreated IBD leads to colon cancer. Utilizing a strategy that specifically targets the colon and the root site of inflammation effectively treated subsequently preventing from spreading towards the upper colon region. Eudragit S-100 (ES-100) and Eudragit FS30D (EFS30D) is used for the drug delivery specifically to the colon. Both are used to save the drug from degradation throughout the gastrointestinal track (GIT) until to the colon and releases the drug specifically into the colon. EFS30D release the drug in sustain manner while ES-100 burst release the drug. Nanoparticles have vital role in the curing of inflamed disease conditions by site specification, reduces adverse drug reactions and increase onset of reaction. Nanoparticles could accumulate in the areas where the inflammation is prevalent due to enhanced permeation and retention effect (EPR).
