Abstract:
The earliest means of measurements were biological. International trade suffered for lack of uniformity in weights and measures. Stones and metallic bars gradually replaced hand and feet as measuring units. The introduction of international prototype meter and the international prototype kilogram me was a milestone in the field of measurements.
