Abstract:
This investigation was undertaken to study the tracheid length variation within a single major branch wood of Araucaria cunninghmii Aiton Ex D. Don. On the basis of comprehensive data obtained during this study, it is observed that tracheid length increase from the center towards the bark. The tracheid length, after attaining a maximum size, does not remain constant but shows variation. Tracheid length increases progressively from the end near to the stem side and onwards towards the tip of the branch to certain level and then shows downward trend. All these characters substantiate the findings of some similar work on the stem wood of the same species elsewhere in the literature.
