The role of wheat and Bengal gram bran on serum cholesterol, liver cholesterol, serum glucose and fecal sterols excretion in male albino rats.

Abstract:
Male albino rats weighing 50-65 g were fed on wheat bran and Bengal gram bran at 20% level for 12 weeks. It was observed that weight gain was lower with wheat bran and Bengal gram bran than control. Serum cholesterol and liver cholesterol level was significantly decreased with wheat bran and Bengal gram. Serum glucose was significantly reduced with wheat bran and Bengal gram bran whereas total fecal sterols excretion was significantly increased with wheat bran and Bengal gram bran as compared to control.
