Abstract:

An alkaline solution of sodium nitrosapentacyano ferrate(11) forms an unstable yellow product of composition Na3 (Fe ( CN ) 5 N2 H4) X H20 with hydrazine hydrate. On standing, the yellow product changes to a diamagnetic stable blue complex of empirical formula Na2(Fe(CN)4N2H4), suggested to be binuclear species of the formula, Na4(Fe2(CN)8(N2H4)2), sodium di- - hydrazine-bis-tetracyanoferrate(I1).
