Abstract:
The aluminum samples were damaged under different shots of TEA-CO2 laser with E = 1J, τ =200 ns and Nd: YAG laser with E = 10 mJ, τ = 9-14 ns. The experiments were performed in air, vacuum and at different pressures of H2. The Photon-Phonon interaction causes the generation of radiation defects in the electrical structure of Al. The change in the electrical conductivity of these samples was investigated employing Four Probe Method (Vander Paw’s method). The results show that there is a decrease in electrical conductivity after damage irrespective of laser used. The conductivity decreases with the increasing number of shots. The damage in air and in H2 is more effective than in vacuum. It is also observed that Al sample damaged in H2 at 760 torr shows more change in electrical conductivity than H2 at 100.
