Abstract:
The extent of damage caused to two common cotton cultivars, Desi Local and Khaki Peshawar by the two most prevalent genera of boll worms, Earias insulana Boisd, and Pectinophora gossypiella Saund. has been investigated. The fortnightly samples collected over the period of four months (August-November/ December) have shown that average damage to Desi Local was 1 1.49% with a fortnightly range of 2.28 to 16.4% while to Khaki Peshawar it was 23% with a range of 3.12 to 33.5%. The recorded population of E. insulana was higher in Desi Local cultivar than that of P. gossypiella while in Khaki Peshawar both had equal distribution.
