Abstract:
From the studies made on maize variety U.M.2, the following conclusions were drawn. The application of 150 lbs. nitrogen as ammonium sulphate plus 75 lbs. phosphorus per acre(P2, O5)as diammonium phosphate significantly increased grain yield of maize i.e. 46.22 mds. as compared to 26.39 mds. per acre of control. These applications also significantly increased the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents to 1.527, o.327% and 0.290% of control. Urea and ammonium sulphate each in combination with diammonium phosphate, gave equal response in increasing the yield and chemical composition of maize grain when applied on equal nutrient basis.
