Abstract:
Seedlings of Brassica napus pre-inoculated with VAM fungi were exposed to pathogenic invasion by Rhizoctonia solani at 18 and 38% soil moisture contents. Pre-inoculated VA mycorrhizal seedlings showed greater resistance to the pathogenic invasion at soil moisture contents favourable for the VA mycorrhizal infections. This resistance was not significant at 38 percent. Two days longer exposures to VA fungi prior to exposure to pathogenic invasion reduced the occurrence of damping off significantly at both levels of soil moisture.
