Abstract:
The present study is aimed to identify the “The relationship between social support and psychological flourishing among staff nurses working in ICU; Role of resilience as a mediator”. The total sample(N=59) staff nurses of ICUs (Main-ICU, Neuro-ICU, Emergency(COD)-ICU, Cardiac-ICU, Pediatric-surgery-ICU, Urology-ICU) were selected from Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur by using purposive sampling technique. This study was conducted through quantitative cross-sectional research design. Three questionnaires were employed in current research; Brief Resilience scale (BRS) (Smith et. al 2008), Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL) shortened version 12- items (Cohern&Hoberman 1983) and The Flourishing Scale (Dinner et. al 2009). The collected data was analyzed by using SPSS. Consequently, it is found that the social support is significant positively correlated with psychological flourishing among staff nurses working in ICUs. The results also revealed that significant positive strong mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between social support and psychological flourishing among staff nurses working in ICUs. This study will be helpful for further researcher to investigate the vulnerability to develop psychological symptoms in staff nurses working in ICU. This study will help the researcher to develop new strategies to improve work efficiency of staff nurses working in ICU.
