Abstract:

Farm mechanization studies in developing countries almost always focus their attention on the agricultural aspects and invariably ignore the agricultural machinery industry sector i.e. marketing and distribution arrangements, and the back-up service. Therefore this research paper concentrates on the importance of after-sales service for successful agricultural mechanization in the developing countries where the agriculture sector is dominated by the small holders. The research is based on the experiences in Pakistan. In this research paper it is shown that how the weaknesses could be eliminated in the sourcing arrangements of the agricultural machinery and a concept of 'Clinic & Hospital' after-sales ser-vices is proposed for better and efficient service to the farmers in general and to the small farmers in particular.
