Abstract:

A two-channel detector is designed and its hardware structure is developed for the detection of narrowband signal which is corrupted with noise. The performance of this detector is compared with an ideal envelope detector (match filter) for independent noise inputs. It is observed that if the signal information is accurate then the match filter or ideal envelope detector is optimum. But as the error grows the performance of ideal envelope detector deteriorates and our two-channel detectro becomes optimum.
