Abstract:
Khabaki lake, which is situated near the village Khabaki, tehsil Khushab, Distt. Sargodha, was devoid of any fish due to the fact that the water was highly saline. To find out the possibility of the culture of an exotic fish, T. mossambica was introduced in 1964 in the lake. The fry fingerlings were brought from Peshawar. It has successfully been transplanted as it was netted in Dec. 1965 and again in August, 1966. The maximum length of the specimen caught was male 29 cm, weighing 6'4 chattaks. The temperature of Khabaki lake ranged from 40F to 75F at different places. The study of fish-food present was also undertaken and it was found that the food consumed by Tilapia is present in abundance.
