Abstract:

States that when a group of men are penned up together in close quarters for months on end, they tend to become hyperirritable. Alienation and despair are the products of extreme situations. Mankind today possesses weapons of such destructive power that the world cannot afford to risk outbreaks of mass violence; and yet the lessons of history point to just such a disaster, unless population control is achieved.
