Abstract:
A solution of mod. II of the theory of partitions is attempted. Values were first obtained empirically as a byproduct of investigations of certain congruences. It was observed that (i) each Rbc (d)P3(0)o is congruent (mod. II) to certain rational functions of the P(a), (ii) there are linear congruent relations between the Rbc(d) for different values of (d), (iii) each Rbc (d)(d-6) is expensible mod. II in terms of P(o), P(a), and the Rbc (6) and (iv) there are several congruent relations between the various Rbc (6) and the P(a). Some of these congruent relations appeared to be identities when verified by power series and on this assumption the author obtained conjectrual values for all the Rbc(d). Some of the results are also quoted.
