Abstract:

Infratemporal tumours are slow growing and insidious; moreover they occur in an inaccessible region of the skull and are unfortunately recognized at an advanced stage. Accurate assessment and preoperative evaluation can reliably be achieved only by Computerized tomography (CT), at specialized centres. Eighteen patients with primary and secondary tumours were assessed by CT. Carotid angiography and jugular venography were also done in glomus jugulare and angiofibroma cases. Moderate surgical extirpation could be achieved by the infra temporal approach. Intracranial extensions and extensive tumours were treated in collaboration with neurosurgeons and radiotherapists.
