Abstract:
The analysis of soil samples collected from fifteen sites in the Kotri barrage area, showed that a large percentage of salt affected soils were saline sodic. The surface soil layers were significantly higher both in total soluble salts and exchangeable sodium percentage. The problem of salt accumulation in the area was produced collectively, by arid climate, heavy texture and high under ground water table Further observation however, revealed that maximum concentration of salts in the soils was present in the South Western part and typical sodic soils were comparatively more common in the Northern region.
