Abstract:
While a large amount of work has been carried out on the alkaloidal contents of the leaves of C. roseus (L) G. Don, 1,2,3, little work has been done on the flowers of this plant. As a result of isolation and structural studies on the chemical constituents of its flowers, we have isolated nine alkaloids: coronaridine, 11- methoxytabersonine, tetrehydroalstonine, ajmalicine, vindorosine, catheranthine, mitraphylline, vindoline and vinbiastine.
