Abstract:
This study has been planned to perform phytochemical screening and anti-plasmodial activity of the solvent-soluble fractions inn-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and nbutanol of Albizia lebbeck and Melia azaderach against Plasmodium falciparum. The methods published by Trease and Evans for the detection of active components including saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids, etc. will be used to conduct the phytochemical screening of the extract. The crude plant extract and its derived solvent-soluble fractions will be analyzed for the anti-plasmodial activity of P. falciparum by following the SYBR green I-based fluorescence assay as described by Kwansa-Bentum. The photochemical screening was carried out on leaves extracts of A. lebbeck and M. azaderach, revealed the presence of some active gradient such as alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and flavonoids. The result shows that solvent-soluble fractions inn-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol of A. lebbeck and M. azaderach exhibited significant antiplasmodial activity against P. falciparum. In our knowledge the leaves extracts of A. lebbeck and M. azaderach revealed the presence of some active gradient exhibited significant antiplasmodial activity against P. falciparum.
