Abstract:
Adsorption of Zn2+ ions from aqueous solution of 0.1 M KCI on a-aluminum hydroxide Is studied as a function of concentration on the neutral surface hydroxyl groups in the temperature range (20-50C). The adsorption data is described by the linear form of the Langmuir equation. The maximum adsorption per unit mass of the -aluminium hydroxide increases with the increase in temperature. On the, average, one H ion is released per Zn+ ion adsorbed. The values of AG, AS and AH of the interfacial reaction are also reported. The differential isosteric heat of the adsorption H of Zn+ adsorption on Aluminum hydroxide is computed between the 20C and 50C. AH increases linearly with the increase in the extent of adsorption.
