Abstract:
An anthomyiid fly, Atherigona orientalis Schin. which had been reported to be a scavenger, infested the melon fruits like the trypetids melon flies. It is a new record of infestation of melon fruits by an anthomyiid fly in the Indus River beach areas of D.I. Khan. The infestation by different fruit fly species was due to the difference in the ecological niches and modes and means of availability of moisture to the melon crop.
