Abstract:
Alternaria solani specimens collected from potato (A), from brinjal (B), from tomato (C), from Datura (D) and from Solanuin nigrum (E) grew well on richards agar. The optimum temperature for the growth was recorded to be between 25C-30C and optimum pH value between 6 and 7. Isolates B and D on alkaline media and isolates A & E on acidic media were slow growing. Isolates A,B & C were chromogenic and produced pink colour in alkaline media and yellow colour in acidic media. None of the isolates sporulated under any environmental condition of growth.
