Zygosporic Endogone species causing vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza in garlic.

Abstract
Study on zygosporic species that produce sporocarp and are associated with VA mycorrhiza of garlic revealed that garlic roots infected by Endogone exhibited infection hyphai which were either from the sporocarp or the spores, penetrating directly through surface cells by forming irregular knot-like appressorium. Within the host the hyphae formed various anastomoses, complex coils and closed loops. Vesicles containing droplets of oil with various shapes and types were also present. A few vesicles were observed to have transverse septa, dividing them into two or more compartments. Sexual reproductive structures like pairs of pairs of parallel copulating branches aniso-gametangia were alos noticed in the inter-cellular spaces. Zygospores developed as a bud orf sac-like out-growth protruded from the united gametangia.
